Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly monitoring wonderkid Alphonso Davies, who currently plies his trade for Vancouver Whitecaps in the MLS.
Spanish publication Marca have claimed that Manchester United and Liverpool are interested in 15-year-old American wonderkid Alphonso Davies. The report cites American newspaper The Province as stating that the young attacker is on the radar of the Premier League giants, who had sent representatives to monitor the 15-year-old.
Manchester United scouts were watching from the stands as Davies started the match and put in a great shift for the Whitecaps against Seattle Sounders on Sunday, earning a penalty at the end of a brilliant run. Liverpool, on the other hand, are also reported to have sent a scout who watched the player in two matches.
Alphonso Davies, born in Liberia, grew up in Canada and eventually joined the Vancouver youth system. Given his ability, the 15-year-old spent little time in the youth team and was fast-tracked to the first team. Davies became the second youngest player to play a competitive match in MLS history as he made his first team debut in July 2016.
The Whitecaps prodigy is known for his lightning pace and a technique that is unparalleled among other North American players of the same age group as him. The player is yet to score his first senior competitive goal but played a major role in one as Vancouver Whitecaps ran out victors against Sporting Kansas City in the CONCACAF Champions League.
Alphonso Davies is currently contracted at Vancouver till 2018, but if the player continues to hone his talent and skills, the interest from Europe from clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool would make it harder for the MLS outfit to keep a hold of their prodigy.
Manchester United and Liverpool both have American owners who have invested in sports in their own country as well, with the Glazers owning the Tampa Bay Buccaneers while Fenway Sports Group are proud owners of the Boston Red Sox, one of the most historic franchises in the history of baseball.
What hustle from 15-year-old @AlphonsoDavies to draw the penalty for @WhitecapsFC ? https://t.co/9m8nld9qT9

It is likely that there would be more teams joining the Premier League duo in the near future in pursuit of the 15-year-old and it should not take long before Alphonso Davies is given a chance to make a name for himself in one of the most illustrious leagues in the footballing world.
