Hull City have signed Manchester United academy graduate Will Keane on a permanent basis.
The forward’s chances to appear in the playing eleven for United have come to a roadblock, what with the Red Devils’ star studded team and Mourinho’s decision to not make Keane part of his plans at Old Trafford.
Keane, who came through the youth ranks at Manchester United, also had loan spells at Wigan, Queens Park Rangers, Sheffield Wednesday and Preston in the last three seasons.
He suffered a season-ending injury after being recalled to the United squad in an FA Cup win over Shrewsbury.
A lot of clubs were interested in signing Keane, but Hull’s caretaker boss Mike Phelan, who knows Keane since his time as assistant manager under Sir Alex Ferguson, has convinced him to join the Tigers.
The 23-year-old scored the first goal of the Jose Mourinho era at Old Trafford, in the pre-season friendly win against Wigan Athletic, but has been allowed to leave in order to obtain first-team football.
Keane had also spearheaded Manchester United’s 2011 FA Youth Cup winning team and his move to Hull will ensure he gets regular first team football while showcasing his obvious talents.

Meanwhile, United defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah wants to get himself back in the starting lineup.
The 18-year-old, who was handed his debut by Louis van Gaal against Arsenal back in February, impressed last season, going on to make 10 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils.
He also agreed to a new deal with United earlier this summer, but is yet to feature under Jose Mourinho.
However, the Dutchman has insisted he is ready to fight to get back into Mourinho’s team.
He was quoted telling Fox Sports Netherlands,”It’s going well, I am fit and do not have much to complain about. I have not played much, but train with the first team and do everything with the first one.”
The former Ajax youth player can also play as a defensive midfielder and has represented the Netherlands at all the youth levels.
However, it takes a lot of doing to impress Mourinho, and the defender must work extra hard if he wants to regain his place in the starting lineup.
