Transfer Rumour: Gabigol leaning towards Inter Milan as Jovetic edges closer to Fiorentina

The Olympics are over and with it comes the day that Brazil sensation Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa decides his future. Reports suggest that tomorrow could be a decisive day for the young phenomenon from Brazil as Inter Milan is his preferred destination.

Di Marzio reports that Inter Milan fans have every reason to be optimistic about signing Gabriel Barbosa as the player prefers the club. The signing would be a huge statement of intent from the Sunning group who currently own Inter, as Gabigol is a much sought after transfer target for football clubs all over the world, including domestic rivals Juventus,

Competition for Gabigol

Gabigol’s agent has recently revealed that Santos has received four offers from top European clubs for the signature of the 19-year-old.

“There are official offers,” Wagner Ribeiro confirmed to Gazeta Esportiva.

His agent had further assured that new developments can be expected in the coming week which will also be vital for the player’s future. Gabigol’s involvement in the Olympics was what stretched out this long drawn transfer saga as he assured fans in an interview that he thinks “it’ll be sorted out soon because we don’t have much time.” (via Vavel)

Jovetic on his way out

Montenegro international Stevan Jovetic, who arrived a season ago from Manchester City, is on his way out of the club, with Di Marzio documenting his meeting with Fiorentina. Jovetic is on the verge of a move back to the club where he started out from in Italy, after an unimpressive stint with Inter where he struggled for opportunities.

Jovetic moving out would ensure squad space for Gabigol, who would arrive with the intention of winning trophies by making an immediate impact. With the acquisition of fellow South American Ever Banega, Inter looks very convincing on paper and is one of the sides that can come close to realistically mounting a challenge to Juventus’ hegemony in Serie A.
