After having signed Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City are on the verge of snapping up another Bundesliga star in Leroy Sane.
The Schalke youngster has caught the eye of a number of top European clubs with his sublime performances this past season. Sane scored nine goals and registered seven assists, as Schalke finished 5th in the Bundesliga. The 20-year-old comes from one of the finest academies in Europe, following the likes of Mesut Ozil, Manuel Neuer, Julian Draxler into the Die Knappen first team.
Both Manchester United and Manchester City were reportedly interested in the winger, but it looks like the latter have snapped him up thanks to their new manager Pep Guardiola. The print edition of German publication Bild has published a story claiming that the German international has agreed a deal with Manchester City.

Bayern Munich were also reportedly interested in the player, but were only willing to make an offer for him next season, while Sane was keen to make a move as soon as possible.
Once the deal is confirmed, Manchester City will have landed one of the most coveted youngsters in Europe. The highly rated winger has showcased a considerate amount of skill and ability to be touted as the next big thing. His dribbling ability is also second to none as compared to other players his age.
The fact that City managed to snap him up amidst the keen interest from Manchester United and Bayern Munich shows the huge effect that new manager Pep Guardiola has had in the club’s image. Players across the world are interested in the Guardiola project in the Premier League, after his success with Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Sane would be the third major arrival at City this summer, after the signings of Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan and Nolito from Celta Vigo.
