Real Madrid have reportedly decided to reject all incoming approaches for Alvaro Morata, and are set to keep the Spanish international at the club this summer.
Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata has been linked with a move away from Los Blancos ever since the Spanish giants decided to exercise their buy-back option on the former Juventus man. Marca had reported that Madrid were keen to make a significant profit on the sale of Morata, but that club president Florentino Perez would also be happy if the Real Madrid academy product was to stay at the club this summer.
The report also said that Morata’s preferred destination continues to be London with Arsenal and Chelsea both poised to battle for his signature. There have been widespread rumours linking the Spanish international to Premier League heavyweights Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.
Chelsea were reported to be leading the race in the recent past and the Blues even had a €60m bid rejected for Morata with Perez holding out for a fee around the €75m mark. There was a shocking development in the Morata story a few days ago, with Marca reporting that the former Bianconeri man was set to stay at Real Madrid despite reports linking him to a move to London.
The rumours have been confirmed yesterday by Spanish publication AS, whose report states that Real Madrid have reportedly told the player’s agent Juanma Lopez, that the striker is now off the market. This is a blow for Chelsea especially who were reportedly in the lead to sign Morata with new Blues’ manager Antonio Conte being a long-term admirer of the striker’s talent.
The report goes on to state that the Madrid hierarchy has been impressed by the Spaniard’s form at the Euros where he scored 3 goals in 4 games for La Roja. It is also stated that they could be potentially losing out on a future superstar in Alvaro Morata if they decide to let him leave, and have since taken a decision to keep the 23-year old at the Bernabeu.
The Alvaro Morata transfer saga seems to have taken a fresh twist as Real Madrid are now not keen on selling the striker. The transfer window still has a long way to go and the Londoners would be looking to test the Merengues’ patience with bids close to the reported evaluation by Florentino Perez of the Spanish forward.
