An under-performing German outfit shared the spoils with Poland in their Euro 2016 Group C encounter on Thursday. German playmakers Mesut Ozil and Mario Gotze failed to live up to their billing, while striker Arkadiusz Milik missed an array of chances for Poland.
It was a tough outing for a formidable Germany side as they played out a drab 0-0 draw with neighbours Poland. In a cagey display by both sides, the chances were few and far between. The best chances of the night, however, fell to Poland striker Milik, who miscued a number of them and failed to trouble German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. Mesut Ozil, too, had a disappointing game and along with Milik, was targeted by fans on social media.
Here’s what the fans had to say:
Ozil > Payet has to be one of the jokes of the century.

OZIL! Nope. Even Arsenal fans and their power in polls can’t help that one go in #GERPOL
— UNILAD Football (@UNILADFooty) June 16, 2016
Ozil booked for #GER
So to clarify, he is actually playing after all.#GERPOL

Fortunately enough, Mario Gotze has the exact same tattoos as Mesut Ozil. Right? pic.twitter.com/tS4sQA6CRG

The way gooners overrate Ozil, plays well for half a season and suddenly he’s a beast ?

Ozil’s teammate Mario Gotze was also slammed for another unconvincing display:
@Julien_Y True. Then when Gomez domes on, we stop crossing and pass it into the box… Just silly ? Götze can’t start again. Gomez has to.
— Maximilian Wussler (@M_Wussler) June 16, 2016
Clean sheet. Not their best, but job done. The problem tonight was the final third. Götze cannot start #diemanschaft https://t.co/5I5QQ81QpS

Havent seen #Goetze have a good game yet

Is Goetze the German Lallana? #GER #eng #GERPOL

Götze value dropping. Good for us. He’s looking heavy and out of rhythm. Just needs a Klopp hug and some love. @MarioGoetze come to LFC
— Firminology (@Firmino_ynwa) June 16, 2016
Götze’s looking heavy. Maybe that kitchen sink we threw at him did a bit of damage
— Indigo (@IndigoLFC) June 16, 2016
Götze thought he’d get Real or Barça after the Euros but with his performance so far he’ll be lucky to lineup with Payet for West Ham.

As reported in the Metro earlier, Arsenal are interested in bringing Ajax striker Arkadiusz Milik to the club. The Polish attacker has enjoyed a good run in Holland, scoring 42 goals in 67 appearances, and would certainly be an upgrade over an under-performing Olivier Giroud.
Milik made a flying start to the Euros by scoring Poland’s first goal of the competition against Northern Ireland. On Thursday however, Milik had a game to forget. He found himself on the receiving end of a number of clear-cut chances, but failed to capitalise on any of them.
Understandably, Twitter let loose on the Arsenal target:
Milik? More like Misit
— Bateson87 (@bateson87) June 16, 2016
Well done Poland. Definitely a great result . #euro Milik owes us all a couple of goals
— Russell Crowe (@russellcrowe) June 16, 2016
Milik should stay in Holland for now.

— Pabζ (@Parmpal_) June 16, 2016
Milik’s transfer value has dropped considerably after tonight’s performance eh…?! Hope he is staying another year at Ajax.
— Nick (@ItweetAjax) June 16, 2016
Milik was a disaster. Absolute disaster. Pazdan was awesome.
— Lucas Wilk (@LucasWilk) June 16, 2016
Milik is a devoted fan of Manchester United. He says he “dreams of playing for Manchester United”, but yet insists he’s “far from it”.
— Nifemi (@AlhajiDrunkard) June 16, 2016
Milik had 2 golden chances to win it for Poland but he bottled them. No teeth to the German attack either. Snooze fest this game.
— Ishan (@notIshan) June 16, 2016
This tournament’s gone pretty sour for Milik.

In the Eredivisie, that airshot and falling on the floor by Milik ends up in the back of the net.

Milik is the polish Giroud ?

— Daniel Tiluk (@danieltiluk) June 16, 2016
