The 24-year-old midfielder has not had a great season at Chelsea so far, and was being linked with a move away to either PSG or Real Madrid. However, he has recently confirmed that he is dedicated to winning trophies with the Blues in the future.
Eden Hazard infuriated Chelsea fans a couple of weeks ago, when he stated that he wasn’t sure where he’d be playing next season. Hazard went on to praise their Champions League opponents PSG and spoke about his admiration for Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane.
After his statements, Hazard came under heavy criticism, the most notable among his critics being Manchester United legend Roy Keane, who said that he would kick him up and down the pitch if he were Hazard’s teammate.
Hazard has learnt his lesson since then, and recently recanted his earlier statements. The Belgian winger said that his future is dedicated to winning trophies for Chelsea and he is happy at Stamford Bridge.
“The future is always the same and that is to win trophies, next season, in two and three years,” he told Chelsea TV. [via: The Evening Standard]
“We are ready for that. We have good players in the team and I hope we can win more trophies.
“I am always happy here. Even if I play badly, I’m happy. I know this is football but I try to keep a smile on my face every time.”
Move to Real Madrid delayed, but not dismissed
Eden Hazard has publicly admitted his admiration for Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, and the feeling is mutual. The Frenchman has expressed his admiration for the Belgian as well, and could plan a move to get him to the club to replace their aging superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 24-year-old is very highly rated and is expected to become one of the best players in the world in the very near future. Chelsea are not prone to selling off their big names easily, but a huge transfer fee coupled with Hazard’s insistence to leave could force them to facilitate a transfer. Considering that the Belgian has a contract with the Blues that runs till 2020, the transfer fee for the move could well be in the region of 70 million pounds.
