Manchester United may not be at their usual place near the top of the table, but a win against Liverpool FC at Anfield is always a special treat for the fans.
Liverpool dominated large parts of the game and were constantly pestering the Red Devil’s defence, with David de Gea pulling off some stunning saves. But in the end, Manchester United fans were treated to a precious victory over their bitter rivals with none other than their Captain Wayne Rooney scoring the decider. No wonder they were all celebrating after the match.
Who cares how many shots on target when a goal is enough to beat #LFC !! Brilliant @ManUtd #LIVMUN #Rooney #degea

Can’t fault Rooney since the turn of the year, one of his biggest critics all season but he’s stepped up big time

Rooney is taking this ‘new year, new me’ very seriously — ِJoé (@joeseus) January 17, 2016
That was some strike from Rooney to win game. Calls for him to be dropped, sold and generally ridiculed appear to be diminishing somewhat

Another feel-good factor during the match was seeing injured Manchester United players Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones celebrating with the fans at the away stand at Anfield after seeing their captain score.

As a United fan, there’s not much better nowadays than winning at Anfield with Rooney scoring and Carrick, Rojo and Jones in the fans #mufc

Rooney has now scored in four consecutive matches, with 5 goals in 4 matches so far for the Red Devils in 2016. For Manchester United fans it really is a great time to be alive.
