Chelsea FC Set To Terminate Radamel Falcao’s Loan Deal

Radamel Falcao’s loan spell at Chelsea might come to an abrupt end as he is all set to return to his parent club, Monaco.

According to The Guardian, the striker has flown back to Monaco with Chelsea set to cancel his loan deal. Colombian striker Falcao is understood to have spent Tuesday at Monacoai??i??s training centre to assess his thigh injury, although neither club have confirmed this to be true.

The striker moved to Stamford Bridge in the summer but has endured a horrid time, having been out with a thigh injury since October 31 and suffering a recurrence of the problem in a training game.

One Goal Wonder at Stamford Bridge

At the start of the season, Chelsea managed to convince Falcao to take a 50 per cent wage cut (A?140,000-a-week) to move to Stamford Bridge and resurrect his ailing career. The loan deal has already been a bitter failure as he has only started one Premier League game and scored just a solitary goal in all competitions for Chelsea. With Diego Costa and LoA?c R my ahead of him in the Chelsea pecking order, it is unlikely that Falcao will get a start. It is understood that Falcao himself will prefer a move to Monaco, marking a sad end to his nightmarish Premier League career.

. A Fall From Grace

Falcao was once rightfully regarded as one of the best strikers in the world. He first came to prominence at Porto, where he spent two seasons between 2009 and 2011 scoring 72 goals in 87 appearances to earn a move to Atletico, where he scored 70 goals in 91 outings. His ACL tear in early 2014 while plying his trade for French outfit Monaco was the turning point of his career. He has struggled to adapt to the pace of the modern game ever since.

His performances in the Premier League showcased to the world that he was a mere shadow of the lethal striker he once was. Interestingly according to transfermarkt, Falcao is still valued at ai??i??35 M. Just three years after single handedly destroying Chelsea with a first half hat-trick in the UEFA Super Cup, Falcao could be set to leave Stamford Bridge with nothing but disappointments. His story is indeed a fall from grace.
