Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku has grown from strength to strength at Everton FC and is currently one of the best strikers in Europe, but he recently revealed who it was that convinced him to swap the Blue of Chelsea FC for that of Everton.

Lukaku signed from Chelsea after two loan spells at Everton for a fee of 28 million pounds in July 2014 and is currently the top scorer in the Premier League with 15 goals. The move to the Toffees has been a huge stepping stone in the strikers career and he recently revealed who it was that convinced him to make a move from a big club like Chelsea to a club that aren’t really considered among the top dogs in Europe.

a He [Martinez] actually called me three times and I didnai??i??t pick up on the first two, so Iai??i??m glad I answered eventually,a the Belgian told FourFourTwo magazine.

.

a I discussed it with him, I spoke to Chelsea, I spoke to my mother, and eventually she said: a Go to Everton.ai??i?? I havenai??i??t regretted it.

But Lukaku also added that he is thankful for Martinez coaching and admires what he’s achieving at Everton.

“Right from the very first training session it has been great. He took me aside and we worked on movement, my hold-up play, everything. With all the good young players coming through, it felt like something good was happening.a

The next big thing

At 22 years old, Lukaku is already showing the ability, strength and calm finishing to dominate most clubs in the Premier League and experience will only help the Belgian in becoming one of the most potent attacking forces in the world.

His 15 goals in the 2015-16 season have even helped him join an elite club of 4 players — Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen, who have scored 50 goals before the age of 23. Judging from what those players went on to achieve, Lukaku will definitely be a player to look out for in the coming years.
