PSG Defender David Luiz, formerly of Chelsea FC, thinks that Paris Saint-Germain are serious contenders for the UEFA Champions League and can go all the way in the tournament.

David Luiz was at Stamford Bridge for 3 years, January 2011 to June 2014, before the center back moved to Paris Saint-Germain and has recently come out to say that the French club have a big chance of finding glory in Europe’s elite club competition.

a Of course. Ita s the Champions League so you cana t choose too much if you want to win.”, said Luiz, in an exclusive interview with goal.com.

a There are the best players and the best coaches so you need to be ready to win against anybody. We want to show the evolution [of the club], even when I was not here – we are going the right way to improve.

Injury Woes .

Luiz also said that injuries had played a big factor in their campaign last year and was a major reason for their exit against Barcelona in the quarter finals.

a The Champions League is about details, too, like last year; if we had everyone available to play against Barcelona in both games it would have been totally different.

“We didna t have everyone able to play. Many people were injured or suspended or not 100 percent right physically.a

Real Madrid Deserve Top Place

PSG came second in their group, behind Spanish giants Real Madrid, and Luiz said that they deserved the spot, but it was the results that came from now on that mattered.

a I think they were better than us at that moment,a the 28-year-old Brazilian said.

a They didna t start the season very well but they arrived at the high level at the right moment. That made the difference. The details after the group stage make the difference.”
