Former Real Madrid player Lassana Diarra confirmed the death of his cousin in the terrorist attack that struck Paris on Friday.
Lassana Diarra, who has also represented Chelsea, and Arsenal, on Saturday, broke the news via Twitter that his cousin Asta Diakite was among the 129 people to have fallen victims of the attack. The French midfielder, didn’t know of the attack, as he represented his national team in the ill-fated match and was then forced to stay till 3AM local time inside the stadium for his own safety.
Diarra despite being overcome by grief, requested to unite against terror as per BBC
“My cousin, Asta Diakite, was among the victims of one of the shootings yesterday, along with hundreds of other innocent French people. She was like a big sister to me.
“In this climate of terror, it is important for all of us who represent our country and its diversity to stay united against a horror which has no colour, no religion. Stand together for love, respect and peace.
“Thank you all for your messages, take care of yourselves and your loved ones, and may the victims rest in peace.”
