Manchester United Dealt Another Blow As Midfield Maestro Suffers Injury During European Qualifiers

Hours after Roy Hodgson revealed that Michael Carrick had suffered a slight tightening of his groin while warming up for the Estonia game, Joachim Low has now given the Red Devils’ faithfuls another reason to moan about as he announced the sidelining of Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The former Bayern Munich superstar apparently felt his left thigh tighten in the final training session ahead of the European qualifier against Republic of Ireland in Dublin, on Thursday night. Consequently, he watched from the dugout as his compatriots succumbed to a disappointing 1-0 loss that has complicated chances of their qualification to a certain extent.

The Germany coach stated that the veteran midfielder will also sit out the Georgia game and added that the medical staff had advised him to offer his skipper a three-day break. He denied ruling out the chances of him playing completely, as he labeled his chances slim.

Despite Joachim Low believing a short-term rest could serve as the fix for his setback, Manchester United were quick to announce that their midfield maestro could miss the trip to Goodison Park later this month.

a Bastian Schweinsteiger probably wona t play on Sunday,a said Joachim Low. a The medical staff believes he has to take a break for two or three days. He will stay with us and we will see, what is possible, but his chances of playing are slim.a

A statement from the Old Trafford outfit read as follows:

‘Bastian Schweinsteiger could be a doubt for Manchester Uniteda s next match at Everton after suffering a thigh injury during the warm-up for Germanya s 1-0 defeat to Republic of Ireland.

.

Perhaps, Louis van Gaal was right to prioritize the signing of defensive midfielders as two of the three first-team hopefuls are now sidelined due to injuries. Morgan Schneiderlin can be expected to feature against Everton after watching his teammates play Arsenal from the stands.’
