FC Barcelona legend Johann Cryuff has slammed manager Jose Mourinho as a bad role model for children when asked about his take on the Chelsea FC manager.

Cryuff gave his take on the Premier League managers in an interview with Sky Sports. The former Ajax and FC Barcelona star said that Mourinho’s inexperience as a player plays a big role in his behaviour.

Mourinho had been charged by the FA for his post-match comment following weekend’s 3-1 defeat. The Portuguese has been in the eye of the storm right from when the season began, kicked-off by his infamous abuse on the touchline and then criticism in post-match comments about physio Eva Carneiro, who has since left the job at Stamford Bridge.

Cruyff slams Mourinho’s behaviour

Known for his outspoken views, Johann Cruyff did not held back when asked about his opinion on Mourinho.

He said: “It’s probably because of his background, where he’s never been cheered by 100,000 people, or whistled at by 100,000 people. Maybe it’s because of that, maybe because of the interest from the press, but I don’t think he is educating children to play football or educating for life.

“He should behave better because he will be in the press all over the world.

“What I like about him is he’s always capable of creating good ambience within the players and what I don’t like is that he always puts himself on the first row. He should be on the second row.”

Cruyff criticizes Van Gaal’s approach

Johann Cruyff himself was a hugely successful player as well as manager for FC Barcelona. Many credit him with laying the foundation of the modern trophy-winning machine that the Blaugrana is. However, following his time as the manager at Camp Nou, Cruyff clashed with quite a few FC Barcelona manager, none more so that Louis van Gaal.

When asked about his opinion on the current Manchester United man, Cruyff said: “He doesn’t dominate. I like dominating football. Manchester doesn’t play like that.

Cruyff, when asked if he thought Van Gaal was too cautious, said: “I don’t think so, but it’s strange that against strong teams they’ve got good results and with weak teams they’ve had difficulties. That’s a strange situation.”
