The Mohamed Salah soap opera finally reached its conclusion on Thursday, with Chelsea FC announcing that a one-year loan deal had been agreed with Italian side AS Roma
The occasionally bitter and protracted Mohamed Salah saga has seemingly finally come to an end, with the Blues officially confirming the departure of the Egypt international on a one-year loan on Thursday.
According to an AS Roma statement (via Football Italia), the loan deal is worth a 5 million this year, with a permanent purchase option set at a 15 million and subject to ‘certain sporting situations’ – largely taken to mean the number of appearances Salah makes next season.
The former FC Basel winger endured a torrid time at Stamford Bridge – failing to make an impression during his time at the club – but did impress in the Serie A last season with Florence-based club Fiorentina. The Serie A is, perhaps, a league that is more suited to his talents, and Roma might just have got themselves a bargain.
Chelsea FC fans relieved after Salah move
By and large, the reaction from the Chelsea FC fans following the news was one of relief. Despite failing to make an impression at the club, Salah did provide some memorable moments – including scoring the sixth goal in a 6-0 demolition of city rivals Arsenal FC in manager ArsA?ne Wenger’s 1000th match in charge of the club.
Meanwhile, some see the move as an opportunity for Salah to further his career after a disappointing spell at Chelsea FC, whilst the loss to Fiorentina has not gone unnoticed either. Having also signed Edin DA?eko from Manchester City, Roma are now being tipped for a very promising season.

Mohamed salah has left to play for Roma, he is really climbing the ladder, maybe one day he’ll be with Barcelona or Real madrid, who knows.

Tipped Roma to dip this season, but the recent signings of Salah and Dzeko have made me think twice. Gerson expected to arrive in Jan too.

Without Juan Cuadrado, Mohamed Salah, Mario GA?mez and Stefan Savic, #Fiorentina are a fraction of the side they were this time last year.
