Edin Dzekoa s agent has claimed that the Manchester City striker, who has been linked with AS Roma, Juventus and Atletico Madrid . , will remain at the club this summer.
The 29-year-old forward made just 11 starts in the Premier League last season and struggled to make any significant impact as Manchester City failed to defend their Premier League crown. The Bosnian internationala s future at the club has come under a lot of speculations and a host of clubs have been linked with a move for him.
Dzeko, who signed from Wolfsburg for A?27 million in 2011, has had a fairly decent goal scoring record considering the fact that he hasna t been a regular starter. But City are expected to make a lot of new additions to their squad this summer after a trophy-less campaign last time around and Dzeko could be one of the casualties.
AS Roma, who are in the market for a new striker, are reportedly keen on signing Dzeko, permanently or on loan. Juventus, who are set to lose Carlos Tevez, have also monitored his situation at the club, while Atletico Madrid are looking for Mario Mandzukica s replacement. But Dzekoa s agent Irfan Redzepagic has dismissed all these rumours and claimed that the striker will honour his contract with Man City and fight for his place in the starting line-up.
“When you read the media reports, it looks like all clubs want Dzeko. I’ve also heard some of Bosnian League teams are after him.
“Every day he is linked to some other club: first it was Atletico Madrid, then Juventus, now Roma, Chelsea…these are all just rumours that go on during every transfer window. I am bored of repeating that those stories are not true.
“He hasn’t rejected any offers because there were no offers! And that is the whole truth. Edin has a contract with Man City until 2018 and is happy at the club.
“Many things influenced his performances last season, like the two injuries he had. But he has no reason to be unhappy at the club he won four trophies with. So the chances of him leaving are none.” a Redzepagic said in an interview.
Man City signed Wilfried Bony in the last winter transfer window and could make further new additions to their striking department. If Jovetic remains at City and manages to remain fit next season, it seems unlikely that Dzeko will receive too much first team football. Despite his agenta s claims, Dzeko will perhaps be shipped off by City in order make space in the squad for new arrivals.
