Facing Aston Villa in the FA Cup semi-finals, Liverpool will welcome Steven Gerrard and Martin Skrtel who have served their suspension following their fixture against Manchester United while doubts remain over Daniel Sturridgea s fitness.
Daniel Sturridge is struggling with an injury concern and is doubtful for the FA Cup tie against Aston Villa which means that Mario Balotelli could start the game at Wembley. Sturridge has picked up a hip problem and though Liverpool are expected to give him plenty of time to recover from the injury, he could make a late entry into the starting eleven team sheet for the match against Aston Villa. Mario Balotelli on the other hand has recovered from his recent illness but the Italian striker seems to have failed to earn Brendan Rodgersa trust during his short stay at Liverpool so far.
Meanwhile Brendan Rodgers will be happy to have his captain Gerrard back in the squad though it is still doubtful if the Englishman will start the crucial FA Cup tie. Speaking before the match, Rodgers claimed that Gerrard still has the ability to a produce big moments in big gamesa while keeping mum on his starting eleven.
“Steven has produced big moments in big games. The most important thing is having him back.”
The Liverpool manager will also have the option to select Martin Skrtel who is likely to start the game after having served his own suspension.
a Ita s great to have Martin Skrtel back available. He looks fit and strong. Hea s very well liked and respected at the club.a
