Former Chelsea FC midfielder Frank Lampard has completed his move to Manchester City from MLS side New York City, on a six-month loan deal.
Frank Lampard was released by Chelsea this summer and the England international joined MLS club New York City on a two-year contract. But with the MLS season starting in March,Ai??has signed for Manchester City on a six-moth loan deal as he looks to keep up his fitness before the start of the next season.
Frank Lampard, who made 648 appearances for Chelsea since signing for them in 2001, was released by the London club this summer as his contract expired. Lampard has attained legendary status among the Blues fans for his consistent performances over the years and is the leading goal scorer in the clubai??i??s history.
The 36-year-old midfielder won three league titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups, one Champions League and a Europa League title during his during his 13 years stint at the club. But Chelsea didnai??i??t offer him a new contract this summer with Jose Mourinho signing a host of new players as he looks to rebuild the squad following a disappointing season last time around.
Finally, after enduring another World Cup exit with England, Lampard decided to join MLS club New York City and expressed his delight at the prospect of facing newer challenges. But the England international wonai??i??t be able to participate till March, when the new season begins in USA, and he has completed a move back to the Premier League with reigning champions Manchester City.
Man City have signed Lampard on a six-month loan deal and it will mutually benefit both the parties. Lampard is keen to maintain his fitness till the pre-season preparations of New York City starts, while being in England will also help him gain the attention of England manager Roy Hodgson. Manchester City on the other hand will sign an experienced player, but most importantly, an English player to fill their quota.
Manuel Pellegrini said that Lampard will join the rest of the squad from Wednesday and insisted that he will get his opportunities with Man City playing in the Champions League.

Lampard is in line to face his former club Chelsea when these two sides face each other in the Premier League on 21st September and when asked whether the England international will play against Blues, Pellegrini said: “I will talk about that with him but he is a player for Manchester City and he will play every game that he needs to play”.
