Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood believes that his team can beat title-contenders Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool this month now that the chance of finishing in the top four is almost nil.
Even though Spurs trail fourth-placed Manchester City by four points only, the Citizens have two games in hand and it will be very difficult for them to catch up with only ten games to go.
Tottenham next face cross-town rivals Chelsea on Saturday, and Sherwood insisted that the Blues’ position at the top of the Premier League will benefit his team.
“I don’t know about Chelsea being more ambitious than us, we’re going to the Bridge and that’s definitely tough, but sometimes expectancy works against you,” Sherwood said.
“Some of our fans might have been rubbing their hands expecting a few goals against Cardiff, but it doesn’t work like that.
“You’ve got to earn the right for everything.
“Sometimes when the expectation is not with you, it makes it a little bit easier.
“Games against Chelsea at the Bridge, Arsenal at the Emirates and Liverpool at Anfield, perhaps the pressure’s off us a little bit and we can cause a surprise.
“We’re looking to mess up as many other people’s seasons as we can, and enhance ours at the same time.”
After the 1-0 win against Cardiff, Sherwood expressed his delight at the fact that striker Roberto Soldado had finally managed to end the barren spell.

“We’re just hoping this is a platform for him to go on and score 20 goals between now and the end of the season.ai???
He was pleased with the understanding between Soldado and Emanuel Adebayor and believed that the pair could forge a good partnership.
“It was a good finish, he had a lot to do. Ade laid it into his path but he still had to take it on the run.
“It was tight control and just to roll it past the goalie, instinctively, he didn’t have a lot of time to think about it, which is probably great.
“I hope they can grow that partnership, it would be great for us if they did.
“We’re looking forward to them building a bit of confidence now from that.”
Sherwood also praised the patience and perseverance of young striker Harry Kane, who made his fourth league appearance of the season.
“Harry Kane has done brilliant. Since he’s been back as the third striker he’s been fantastic in training.
“He’s had to be very patient. If I was Harry Kane, I’d be banging my door down every day and saying: ‘Why aren’t I getting an opportunity to play?’ But he’s respectful enough to know that we’ve got world-class strikers.
“He will get his time.”
