John Terry is reportedly willing to accept a one-year contract extension to prolong his 17 year professional career at Chelsea. Terry is the club captain and will likely have to take a pay cut to sign the deal when his current five-year deal worth A?150,000-a-week comes to an end in June.
The 33 year old was interested in a two-year deal, but Chelsea have told him in no uncertain terms that the clubai??i??s policy for players over the age of 30 is to offer only 12 months and he will not be an exception. Terry has accepted this fact and is now keen to tie up his future as soon as possible.
The center back is the last Chelsea academy player to establish himself in the first team, and has been enjoying a renaissance of sorts under new manager Jose Mourinho, who has personally assured Terry of a resolution before the summer.
In October 2012, Chelsea had reportedly decided to let Terry walk after this season, but Mourinhoai??i??s return last summer might have changed Chelseaai??i??s mind about Terry.
