Chelsea FC Manager Jose Mourinho has expressed his desire to bring back Thibaut Courtois from Atletico Madrid, while avoiding questions regarding Diego Costa.
Chelsea werenai??i??t expected to have a busy January transfer window, but as it turned out, they have been the busiest among all the clubs at the top of the table so far. The departure of Juan Mata to Manchester United, Michael Essien to AC Milan and Kevin De Bruyne to Wolfsburg, was followed by the arrived of Nemanja Matic and Mohamed Salah. While they might have concluded their business for this season, the London club have already been recently linked with a move for Atletico Madrid star Diego Costa in the summer.
Chelsea are expected to sign a new striker sooner rather than later, and have been linked with the likes of Wayne Rooney and Diego Costa. Reports from Spain suggested that the Blues have come to a verbal agreement with the Spanish side for the sale of Costa in the summer. But Jose Mourinho avoided questions regarding the striker in his press conference, although he did answer questions regarding the future of another player at Atletico Madrid ai??i?? Thibaut Courtois.
“Courtois is our player, Diego is not our player, so I cannot speak about Diego Costa.
“About Courtois, I can, because he is my player.” ai??i?? The Chelsea manager said.
When asked about whether Courtois will remain at Madrid beyond the end of this season, he replied: “No.”
The 21-year-old has earlier stated that he is unlikely to return to Stamford Bridge unless he gets regular first team action and with Petr Cech at the club, that seems unlikely to happen immediately. Atletico Madrid have expressed their desire to make this loan deal into a permanent move, while he has also been linked with Barcelona and Napoli.
Mourinho has also expressed his pleasure at how they have gone about their business in this transfer window.
“We are happy with what we did. The Kevin De Bruyne (move) was expected.
“He’s a fantastic player but was an expected deal for us, and very good if you compare what Chelsea paid for Kevin a couple of years ago and the amount we made now.
“Juan was unexpected, and we answer immediately with Salah which we believe a 21-year-old boy in his time will be a good player for us.” ai??i?? Mourinho added.
