Park Ji Sung and Adel Taarabt loaned out by QPR
Park Ji Sung is one of the few footballers in the Premier League that have gone from being Champions to the Championship from one season to the next. However, he will not be playing in the Championship this season as he has completed a loan return to former club PSV Eindhoven. The deal has been confirmed by the Dutch club subject to the securing of a work permit for the former South Korea captain. He becomes Philip Cocuai??i??s seventh signing in this summerai??i??s overhaul at the Philips Stadion. Key players like Kevin Strootman and Dries Mertens have departed, but the Dutch manager still aims to topple best friend Frank de Boerai??i??s Ajax this season.
Meanwhile, Adel Taarabt will, once again, link up with Martin Jol at Fulham for the 2013-14 season. “I like his creativity,” said Jol, confirming his admiration for a player he worked with while at Tottenham Hotspur. Taarabt was integral to Rangersai??i?? efforts for promotion in 2010-11. The Moroccan has refused to rule out a return, saying, “I hope the fans understand my decision and I really hope to return to Loftus Road one day.”
Taarabt becomes Martin Jol’s sixth signing of the summer. Fulhamai??i??s local rivals Queenai??i??s Park Rangers, on the other hand have, either sold, released or loaned out 15 players this summer; in a bid to reverse the ill effects of the catastrophic spending that backfired spectacularly over the course of the 2012-13 season.
Lucas Piazon loaned out to Vitesse
Chelseaai??i??s Lucas Piazon has completed a switch to Eridivisie club Vitesse in a deal that lasts until the end of the 2013-14 season. The Brazilian made his Premier League debut in Chelseaai??i??s 8-0 win over Aston Villa in December, winning (and missing) a penalty. Piazon spent the second half of this past season during Manuel Pellegriniai??i??s last days at Malaga.
The youngster will join fellow Chelsea youngsters Patrick van Aanholt, CristiA?n Cuevas and Gael Kakuta at Arnhem. Vitesse finished 4th in the 2012-13 Eridivisie.
Leicester City sign Ignasi Miquel on loan
Arsenal defender Ignasi Miquel has joined Leicester City on a season-long loan deal. The Spaniard has made 14 appearances since joining the Gunners in 2010.
“I came here knowing it would be a challenge for me,” Miquel said, “I need to play, and I think here will give me a chance to be part of the squad, to be fighting for a place in the starting XI. It is good to have competition.” Miquel is a primarily a centre half but occasionally appears at left back. However, he has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates as Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal currently compete with each other at left back. Miquel is the second player to move to the King Power Stadium during this summer transfer window, following left-back Zoumana Bakayogo. Arsenal, meanwhile, have loaned out five members of their squad this summer.
