Chelsea FC goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who is on loan to Atletico Madrid, wants to extend his stay at the Spanish club.
The Belgium international who was signed from Racing Genk back in 2011, is yet to make an appearance for his parent club after spending two seasons on loan to Spanish club Atlectico Madrid. The highly rated 20-year-old custodian has been in fantastic form for Madrid side and set a new club record of 820 minutes without conceding a goal at home this season.
The Spanish club holds the best defensive record in the league this season, having conceded just 24 goals so far and currently sit in the 3rd spot on the table ai??i?? just one point behind Real Madrid. Courtois has managed to keep 13 clean sheets this season in 27 matches ai??i?? a wonderful achievement considering his age. The 20-year-old is destined to be one of the best in the world in the future.
But his future at Chelsea has been in doubt with big European clubs showing interest in the Belgium international. Courtois though is more than happy to extend his stay at the Spanish capital. The 20-year-old has stated in an interview that he would like to extend his stay at Atletico.

Chelsea, in all likelihood, will grant his wish. Petr Cech, who is the current No.1 at Stamford Bridge, is expected retain his spot for at least two more seasons. Bringing Courtois back to London might slow down his development as he is unlikely to get regular first team action. The English club is likely to extend his loan at Atletico for one more season, before loaning him out to a Premier League club in order to get him acclimatised with English football.
Lot of young players at Chelsea have failed to break into the first team and have been sent out on loan ai??i?? where they have prospered. The likes of Lukaku (who has outscored every Chelsea player this season) and Courtois (who has had more clean sheets than Cech this season) have pointed out that the Blues must retain their faith in these young players. While Lukaku is likely to be recalled into the squad next season, Chelsea fans might have to wait for two more seasons to see Cuortois guarding the goal at Stamford Bridge.
