. In a decision that could well be one of the most obvious in recent times, Louis van Gaal has decided that Manchester United should invest in a striker in the next transfer window.
The only two recognized strikers in the Manchester United squad right now, Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney, have scored only 6 Premier League goals for the team combined and the lack of goals up front has been a major cause for concern for the fans and manager Louis van Gaal.
The Dutchman has recently stated that he would have to solve this problem by investing in a quality striker in the next transfer window, but there should be improvement on the training ground as well.
“It can be solved with money, but also on the training pitch. We’re training, but scoring goals is a quality,” Van Gaal said. “We have that quality, but at this moment there’s a lack of confidence at the right time or we need to buy another striker. It’s always like that.”
What about Javier Hernandez?
While Louis van Gaal might have the funds to buy a striker in January, but Manchester United fans will question whether he knows what he’s doing. Van Gaal had let a quality striker leave in the summer in the form of Javier Hernandez, who went to Bayer Leverkusen and broke some goal scoring records and has already scored 16 goals in all competitions this season.
‘Chicarito’ was a popular player at Old Trafford before he was shipped out by Van Gaal and this is an example of the Dutch manager shooting himself in the foot, as it now looks like Hernandez would be the ideal type of striker that Manchester United could be looking to snap up this winter.
