Chelsea FC superstar Eden Hazard has reportedly made up his mind to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer, potentially sparking a bidding war between Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain and La Liga giants Real Madrid

After a successful three seasons in south-west London, it appears as though Eden Hazard’s time at Chelsea FC could be coming to an end. Although the Belgian will not be sold in January, reports in England suggest that he has made up his mind to leave the Blues in the summer.

The 25-year-old is having a season to forget for Chelsea, failing to score a single goal in any competition throughout the first half of the season, and has recently fallen prey to niggling injuries that have seen him struggle for match fitness.

.

English publication Mail Online report that Hazard has told ‘close friends’ he will leave this summer, despite signing a new five-year contract said to be worth A?200,000 per week earlier this year.

According to the report, a club insider said the following about the situation: “In his head he has already left. It would take some U-turn to keep him.”

The former Lille man is said to want to continue competing in the UEFA Champions League, and is unlikely to be able to do that next season, with the Blues’ chances of a top 4 finish greatly reduced given their start.

Real Madrid a possible destination if Ronaldo moves on

As things stand, it is difficult to see how Real Madrid can accommodate Eden Hazard in their squad. Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Isco and James Rodriguez are among the star names to compete for the three attacking midfield roles behind striker Karim Benzema, and unless one or two of them are moved on, a big-money move for Hazard makes little sense.

It also makes little sense from the Belgian’s point of view to have made that decision without waiting to find out who the new permanent manager at Chelsea FC will be, and how he will see Hazard’s role in the team.

Blues’ owner Roman Abramovich’s ambition has never been in doubt, and wholesale changes are likely this summer to get the club back on track. A sale of their most talented player, then, doesn’t make much sense from the club’s point of view either.
