The sacking saga of ex-Real Madrid manager Rafael Benitez had been a rather long drawn-out one. While the club made the announcement official late on Monday night, strong rumours about the sacking were doing the rounds from hours before.

The rumours said that the club officials (including president Florentino Perez) had called a meeting with manager Benitez, after which latter was to be sacked. This is how Rafa must have felt at that point of time.

However, the final announcement came late into the night, and was followed by a frenzy by fans and pundits alike. While club legend Zinedine Zidane was appointed as the new manager, the general reaction of the Twiteratti seemed to be of anger towards the Real Madrid bosses, who seemingly keep hiring and firing managers at their own free will. Here are some of the best reactions on Twitter.
