Wolfsburg Confident Of New De Bruyne Contract Amidst Manchester City Interest

Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs has said that Manchester City target Kevin De Bruyne will stay with the Bundesliga runners-up as they aim to secure his signature to a new contract.

De Bruyne, 23, has been in sensational form for Wolfsburg following his a 20 million move from Chelsea FC and is being pursued by a host of European Clubs, most notably, Manchester City, who are looking to sign de Bruyne to revamp their midfield following a disappointing season.

The 2013-14 Premier League champions could not mount a serious title challenge to stop the charge of eventual champions Chelsea FC, and believe the acquisition of De Bruyne, who has broken the Bundesliga record by clocking up an impressive 21 assists and in addition has scored 10 league goals to help Wolfsburg finish second behind only Bayern Munich, will help them regain the title.

It was reported a couple of weeks ago that City’s hopes of signing Kevin De Bruyne have been boosted with the contract talks between the player and Wolfsburg stalling, sporting director Klaus Allofs was adamant that they will keep the 24-year-old at the club.

.

Allofs told Sport1: “Kevin has a contract until 2019, so the signal has already been sent out. He will stay with us. We’ve said we will look at his contract.”

“The aim is to take into account financially Kevin’s extraordinary development. The best players should earn the best wages. We will make an offer to him and I think we will reach an agreement here very quickly.”

Asked if De Bruyne would stay until 2019, he added: “We don’t look that far into the future. Football develops so rapidly that it is mere speculation if you look more than a year ahead.

“What happens with Kevin next year will depend on Kevin’s development and just as much on the development of VfL Wolfsburg. If we are as successful as we have been last season there are not so many reasons to leave us.”

Kevin De Bruyne played more accurate through balls than any other player in the Bundesliga and at 111 chance created, was ahead of Eden Hazard of Chelsea FC as the second best across the top 5 Leagues in Europe.

De Bruyne was also named as Bundesliga player of the year defeating the likes of Manuel Neuer and Arjen Robben to the title.

While the statistics and honours are impressive, it remains to be seen what impact the potential new 45 million Raheem Sterling offer that Manchester City are preparing that is expected to be accepted by Liverpool FC has on de Bruynea s pursuit, given that the player will also be offered a new contract by Wolfsburg.
