Manchester City’s new recruit Wilfried Bony, has expressed desires of winning the Champions League with the Sky Blues. Bony, was brought for a fee of around 28 million from Swansea City. The imposing Ivorian, is set to partner Sergio Ageuro, after he comes back from Africa Cup Of Nations. Fellow countryman, Yaya Toure, has also backed Wilfried Bony, to be a massive hit at Manchester City. However, Wilfried Bony asserts that his eyes are set for the Champions League trophy, which he “really” wants.
“It was a great decision because Manchester City was playing [in the] Champions League,” the 26-year-old told City’s website. “I said if I wanted to move it was to a team playing [in the] Champions League because it is a competition I really want to play [in] and really want to win also. It is a great competition and gives me a strong motivation.”
Manchester City, qualified on a knife’s edge for the latter stages of the Champions League, this season. The Sky Blues, have lacked the needful to progress from the round of sixteen and given their fluttery form, some might have already dismissed them. But, Wilfried Bony, believes that Manchester City can pull a U-Turn, inspire themselves and deliver stellar performances in Europe.
“Why not? City is a big club with great players. We just have to be ready.” Bony, justified.
The Ivorian has been in AFCON, alongside fellow countryman and now club-mate Yaya Toure. Wilfried Bony, believes that Yaya Toure’s presence is bound to make him a better player and would improvise his skill set.
“I spoke with Yaya every day. He will help me become a better player.”
Wilfried Bony, was the top scorer in the Premier League for the year 2014, but the former Vitesse man understands that both, competition and pressure, would be on a all time high, as he has joined Manchester City.
“It is a high level now at Manchester City so I need to be stronger mentally.”
The former Vitesse Arnhem forward, whose fee could rise to 28 million pounds depending on add-ons, has been given the No. 14 shirt at City.
