Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has been the butt of jokes and criticism after an underwhelming season at Old Trafford, but has now reportedly been offered a huge amount of money to go and play at another club.

Wayne Rooney is being offered a 3-year contract worth 25 million pounds a year to play in the Chinese Super League, according to The Daily Mail. The English forward will most likely be playing for Shanghai SIPG, which is being managed by his former national coach — Sven Goran Eriksson.

.

The Chinese Super League want to make Wayne Rooney their marquee signing and see him become the poster boy for their league. The financial package offered by them would also include an image rights agreement that would see Rooney make even more money if he can help increase the CSLa s global profile.

Good move for Wazza?

The Red Devils’ captain looks to be a shadow of the footballer he used to be and is not the impact player that he once was for Manchester United. Although he remains an important part of the future plans of both club and country, Rooney must definitely be thinking about his career plans after hitting the big 30 and having an uninspiring season for the Red Devils.

Young talent at Old Trafford are raring for regular game time, yet an on-the-decline Rooney remains the highest paid player at Manchester United and plays every game. He might need to think long and hard about the best decision he can take for himself and his club as this kind of big money opportunity does not come by often.
