Vincent Kompany Feels Manchester City Knew About All Of Chelsea FC’s Plans

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany expressed his delight at the 3-0 drubbing of rivals Chelsea FC on Sunday. The 29-year-old feels that the Citizens were aware of every move that the Blues were going to make and this helped them beat the title holders.

Chelsea FC were played out of the park last night at the Etihad stadium by a rampant and rejuvenated Manchester City. Sergio Aguero opened the scoring for Manchester side in the first half. Kompany, who had scored in the 3-0 win over West Brom in the opening fixture found the net for consecutive games from identical headers. The rout was completed by Fernandinho, when he fired the ball into the net from outside of the box after some shocking play by Cesc Fabregas.

There was not one thing Chelsea threw at us that we didn’t know about- Vincent Kompany

Kompany believes that it was the preparation for the game by the team along with the fact that the fixtures are less cluttered at the start of the season, that helped last year’s runners up send out a title warning. The Belgian international felt that the Blues were falling for all the traps that City had set for them.

Speaking in an interview, as quoted by The Express, Kompany said:

“I have never felt as prepared for a game as I did for this one.

“You could see it a we were setting traps all over the pitch and it planned out perfectly for them.

“That may be the advantage of only playing one match a week at the moment.

“If I have to give credit to the team for one thing, it was the way we prepared. There was not one thing Chelsea threw at us that we didn’t know about.”

Kompany joked about being in trouble if he lead the team’s scoring charts for long

While it is a very early stage in the league season, Kompany finds himself at the top of the goal-scoring charts at Etihad. The 29-year-old expressed that he was more happy with the Citizens keeping clean sheets in the two games than him scoring in both. The captain also added that he hoped last season’s top-scorer Sergio Aguero gets back into his prolific goal-scoring form and leads the league’s scoring charts once again.

“I don’t expect it to go on for too long, but I am probably more happy about the two clean sheets,” he added.

“If I am top-scorer for too long, we are in massive trouble. I want Sergio to catch up quickly and go on to be top scorer in the Premier League again.”
