Stoke City put up a brilliant show at the Britinia Stadium on Saturday, as they blew past Manchester City on a day when the windspeeds were almost touching 30kmph.
However, it was not the windspped that the Potters used to their advantage. In fact, they out-did Manchester City by playing some brilliant football, as the front three — Marko Arnautovic, Bojan Krikic and Xherdan Shaqiri ran terrorised the Manchester City defenders.
It was the combination of the two wingers Shaqiri and Arnautovic that did the magic. While the Swiss winger provided both the assists, Arnautovic scored both the goals for Stoke City.
For the first goal, Shaqiri shrugged off a couple of defenders on the right wing, and then dribbled past Aleksandar Kolarov, to send in a low and hard cross. Arnautovic had read his teammate’s move and made a quick run to the six-yard box, to tap the ball into the net.
.
The second goal was even more exquisite, as Shaqiri played in a through ball to Arnautovic, who made a great diagonal run, to fool the defenders, and produce a calm finish into the MAnchester City goal.
