While you were busy watching action from England, Spain, Germany and Italy — Former Chelsea and West Ham striker Carlton Cole scored one of the most outrageous goals ever in the Scottish Premier League.
When a footballer is known more from a twitter parody account than his exploits on the pitch, you have certain expectations from the said player and 32-year-old English striker Carlton Cole did not disappoint. In a 3-1 defeat of Inverness, Cole produced a bizarre finish a few yards from goal when he hacked the ball down with the bottom of his foot and then pawed it into another player before it went over the line.
The Celtic players were adamant that the goal be given to Cole but the referee, unfortunately, pronounced it an own goal.
Here’s a video of the stunner.
