Twitter Reactions Name Arsenal FC The Biggest Winner OF Manchestrer Derby

As both Manchester United and Manchester City played out a rather drab goalless draw, at Old Trafford, with the away team retaining their spot at the top of the Premier League table, but barely so.

Everyone had anticipated a rather heated affair between the two arch-rivals, while some were even preparing for the passion and excitement to roll off from the pitch. Well, Greater Manchester Police certainly was anticipating something like that, and tweeted this out, as a warning message for any potential miscreants.

Just a suggestion, don’t pick a fight with a police horse. #ManchesterDerby

a G M Police (@gmpolice) October 25, 2015

Manchester United star Wayne Rooney came under a lot of scrutiny for yet another poor performance, and some of the fans even called for dropping the England international from the United starting XI.

Why you putting martial on the wing to accommodate Rooney just bench Rooney he has done well but he is on the decline

a Dastar (@dastar17) October 25, 2015

Rooney piss poor again, really beginning to lose my patience with him, lost the ball too many times.

a Alex Turk [SDMN] (@VanGaalicBread) October 25, 2015

Is @WayneRooney the most ineffective up field player in the @premierleague? LVG has made him undroppable though…#MUNMCI #MUFC

a Shamik Chakrabarty (@shamik100) October 25, 2015

Rooney was not the only forward to draw some criticism, with Manchester City’s Wilfried Bony also being criticised.

#MCFC will have to splash out on a striker in January, Bony is simply not the answer. Had a chance today and blew it, very poor #MUFCvMCFC

a Lonely Corner Flag (@TLCFblog) October 25, 2015

However, it is probably not so surprising that the forwards drew criticism, on a day when the match ended scoreless. And where there’s criticism for strikers, there’s always praise in store for the defenders.

That was Marcos Rojo’s best game in a United shirt, he’s my man of the match

a Matthew (@carrick_fan) October 25, 2015

On the whole, most of the fans did not seem too pleased at the lack of excitement in the match, as this is the first time the two teams played a goalless draw at Old Trafford, since 2004.

When it is a #ManchesterDerby, you expect numbers on the scorecard, other than 0. #MUNMCI

Feeling a bit “meh” after the Derby. Not disappointed or ecstatic…just..yeah, “meh” #ManchesterDerby #MUFCvMCFC . #MUFC

Meanwhile, some fans, namely the likes of Jamaican star Usain Bolt wanted to look at the positive side of things.

A point is better than none #ManchesterDerby

a Usain St. Leo Bolt (@usainbolt) October 25, 2015

However, the set of fans, who arguably would consider this as the best result, are the Arsenal faithful.

Good news: this is the best possible result for Arsenal Bad news: we are all now 2 hours closer to death, and we’ll never get that time back

a Thi-Scarrrrry Ennui (@Heisenbergkamp) October 25, 2015

FT. 0-0. In the end, Arsenal just wanted it more.

a JOE.co.uk (@JOE_co_uk) October 25, 2015

Goalless and soulless. I’d be fine if the league gave Arsenal the 3 points from that match to punish City and United.

a Jim Kogutkiewicz (@jimmyfk) October 25, 2015

The match was man United vs man city. The winner was Arsenal..

a KAZEEM (@don_kazzy) October 25, 2015

In the end however, unlike many of the previous clashes, this year’s Manchester Derby was played with much more respect and sporting spirit between the two teams, something that we always like to see in sports.
