With the Premier League gradually losing to Primera Division on all fronts, Xavi Hernandez has now revealed that the prospect of playing in the Premier League never crossed his mind as he was already with a top team in FC Barcelona.

After twenty-five trophies, the former Spain international finally brought curtains down on his Camp Nou stay last summer to join Qatar-based club Al Sadd, but he admitted that the English top division could attract any player for its own unique features, labelling the competition as wonderful.

.

When the World Cup winner was quizzed about the team that he would have preferred to play for, he told the Express about five clubs, revealing his penchant for outfits with rich history as he shortlisted Manchester United and Liverpool FC a who have 38 English titles between them a and surprisingly snubbed Arsenal FC, who have clinched the title 13 times.

Sergio Aguero gifted Manchester City with their first title in forty-four years as he scored past Paddy Kenny on the final day of the 2011/12 season. The 35-year-old midfield conjurer addressed the fact that the Citizens have emerged only recently and revealed that their local rivals, Manchester United, are his favourite side amongst the English.

a As Ia ve always been a Barcelona person, I never had to think about it. It has always been my top team. To be honest, the Premier League attracts any player. The stadiums, the grass, the fans and how they live football are wonderful. Everything is wonderful.

a When it comes to the big teams, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool, Ia d choose either Manchester United or Liverpool. I know that other teams like Manchester City have emerged more recently, but Manchester United are my favourite, historically speaking.a

No Old Trafford faithful would ever turn down the prospect of witnessing a midfield duo of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Xavi Hernandez don the famous red strip, but his comments have come few years late for Manchester United to plot any move for him.
