Spain national team manager Vicente del Bosque has condemned the antics of Chelsea FC striker Diego Costa, after dropping the 26-year-old from his squad for the upcoming Euro qualifiers. .

Costa is currently serving a three-match ban, imposed on him for his actions during the 2-0 win over Arsenal FC. The Spaniard was involved in an altercation with Arsenal FC defender Laurent Koscielny and Gabriel. Gabriel was sent-off for his retaliation, but an independent committee reviewed the incident and imposed a retrospective ban on Costa. The committee also rescinded the red-card received by Gabriel and the three-match ban along with it.

What he did was unedifying – Del Bosque on Diego Costa

Del Bosque has criticized Costa’s actions during the game. The Daily Mail have quoted him saying,

“What he did was unedifying, and that is why he was punished.

a Of course, I didna t like what he did.a

However, Del Bosque clarified that the Chelsea FC striker was not picked for Spain’s upcoming fixtures as he is suspended for the first match. The suspension is for bookings picked up by the striker during his exploits for Spain.

a He cana t play the first game through suspension and wea ve decided not to bring him.

a He hasna t played badly and ita s not on merit.a

Costa hasn’t fared well for Spain since opting to represent the La Roja last year, the striker has scored a solitary goal in nine appearances.
