Mere hours after sacking Scotsman David Moyes, La Liga club Real Sociedad have signed former Barcelona B coach Eusebio Sacristan as their manager.

David Moyes, formerly of Everton and Manchester United fame, had been at the Spanish club for a year, helping his side pick up 46 points from 38 games and finish 12th in La Liga last year. However, according to The Guardian, the 2-0 defeat to relegation battlers Las Palmas this past Friday proved to be the final straw as Moyes, along with assistant coach Billy McKinlay, were relieved of their duties.

a Real Sociedad would like to thank David Moyes and Billy McKinlay for the professional conduct, commitment and dedication which they showed during their roles in the running of the first team,a the club said in an official statement while releasing the pair.

Hours after news of his sacking got out, Real Sociedad announced that his replacement would be Eusebio Sacristan, a former midfielder for FC Barcelona and the Spanish national side as well as the coach of the Barcelona B team from 2011 to February 2015.

“He will be presented tomorrow [Tuesday] at noon and will lead his first training session in the afternoon,” another club statement confirmed.

A win-win situation .

With Eusebio coming in, Real Sociedad now have a manager who is experienced at the highest level of La Liga as he has won four La Liga titles and the European Cup. Even when it comes to managerial experience, Eusebio was assistant to Frank Rijkaard at the Camp Nou between 2003 and 2008, and was also head coach of Celta Vigo for one season.

Meanwhile, David Moyes — who seemed out of sorts in Spain having to communicate through a translator and stay in a hotel everyday — will probably direct his focus back to the English Premier League, where he has done some good work with Everton and would be a welcome addition to any mid-table club looking for a new manager.
