Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini heaped praise on his players for their all round performance against a gritty Everton side in a 2-0 win at Goodison Park.
Last seasona s runners up have made a sensational start to the new season after winning all 3 of their fixtures, scoring 8 and conceding none in the process. Second half goals from Aleksandar Kolarov and Samir Nasri gave City a crucial win over a resilient Everton side at Goodison Park.
Well Rounded Display from City Players
Manuel Pellegrini applauded his players for their well rounded display over the course of 90 minutes, with both defence and attack catching the eye.
a It was a very professional performance against a strong team at Goodison. In both halves we were consistent and solid, and we had more chances to score than Evertona , said Pellegrini.
a Again we scored two and kept a clean sheet so I think we are working very well as a team in both defence and attack.a
Commending the consistency of his side, Pellegrini added, a In the Premier League, when you play away it is tough. We analysed what happened last season and although it wasna t a disaster because we finished second and we were the team who scored the most goals, we were not consistent through the whole year.a
a We lost points against teams who were fighting relegation, so I think after three games you can see we have learnt those lessons. It is only August and we finish in May, so it is important to keep playing, working and thinking in the same way as we are doing.a
Pellegrini Praises Sterling Display
Pellegrini further went on to praise an effervescent performance by City new boy Raheem Sterling, who set up Aleksandar Kolarov for Citya s opener against Everton.
a I said when he arrived here that he is a different player, and we didna t have a player with his characteristics last seasona , said Pellegrini describing Sterlinga s performance.
a He is a very important player in one v ones near the box, and it was a beautiful pass in for Aleks who finished very wella , the Chilean added.

Record Breaking Win
Manchester City equalled a club record after recording their 9th consecutive win in the League spread over two seasons. The Citizens can break their 103 year old record set in 1912 if they beat Premier League new boys Watford at the Etihad next week.
a Before the game someone told me that if we won today we would equal a club record after so many yearsa , said the City manager.
a Ita s important to win nine games in a row but it is more important to be top of the table, and the most important thing is to see the team playing in the way we are doinga , he concluded.
