Pedro Backs Fabregas, Insists Former Arsenal Man Can Win Over The Chelsea Fans

Chelsea midfielder Pedro has lent his support towards compatriot Cesc Fabregas, after the latter was booed by the Chelsea FC fans during the Blues’ 3-1 win over Sunderland.

.

According the fans, Fabregas’s poor performances led to Mourinho’s sacking. But Pedro dismissed these claims and insisted that his teammate will prove his loyalty in the coming weeks.

Fabregas arrived at Chelsea following a A?30m deal with Barcelona in June 2014, and helped the Blues to win the title in his first season. But his dip in form and effort this season has forced the fans to hold him guilty for Jose Mourinho’s sacking last week.

Fabregas can overcome mutinous fans

Fabregas is one of the three Chelsea players that received plenty of stick in their 3-1 win over Sunderland on Saturday, as the fans express their anger following Mourinho’s exit. But Pedro believes his compatriot can rise above this and prove his loyalty to the fans.

“It was difficult for him but he can get through this,” Pedro told the Evening Standard, of Fabregas.

“He is strong mentally and very competitive. Cesc is a top player, a very good character in the team, he is a winner and it’s good he plays for us.

“I understand why the fans are so upset. It’s normal when the team and coach are in this position.”

Chelsea FC vs Norwich City

Predicament for the club

Chelsea’s poor performances this season cost Mourinho his job, just seven months after he won the league with the Blues. Pedro admits it is a predicament for the club, but believes Chelsea will turn it around with the support of the fans.

“Jose Mourinho is a very good coach,” said Pedro. “It is a difficult situation for everyone.

“It was certainly difficult for the players, but it was an important win. The supporters have been good to us this season.

“They have always been with us, together. I don’t say anything against them, they are part of us.”

Huge responsibility on Hiddink

Chelsea lost just once in 24 outings during Guus Hiddink’s first interim spell with the club in 2009, and Abramovich will be hoping that the Dutchman follows a similar graph this time around, and pull Chelsea out of their current mess.

The fans — rather than moaning about the special one’s sacking — should now back their new manager, who will be on the touchline at Stamford Bridge for Chelsea’s boxing day fixture against Watford.
