Young French midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia has officially signed for Italian Serie A side Inter Milan, according to media reports. The transfer fee for Kondogbia believed to be in the region of A?25m.

.

Geoffrey Kondogbia was initially linked with Premier League clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham. Inter’s biggest rivals AC Milan had also planned to rope in the midfielder, but the youngster finally chose Inter Milan over AC Milan.

AC Milan CEO Adrian Galliani had mentioned yesterday that they were the frontrunners in this race to sign the midfielder. AC Milan apparently had advanced talks with French side AS Monaco and the deal was almost done. Monaco suddenly stopped responding and soon it was declared that Kondogbia will be signing for the rival side.

Galliani was quoted, a At 1.30 it was all done. Monaco had given us the all-clear for the sale at a 40m with payment spread over two years, a 20m and a 20m. The agreement with Geoffrey had already been sorted out the night before and was confirmed that same morning by him and his father. After we exchanged the documentation, at 1.30pm everyone disappeared. Evidently they changed their minds or the others offered more.a

Yesterday in their official twitter account Inter Milan had informed that the French midfielder will arrive at the club for a medical on Monday.

The 22-year-old Frenchman had joined AS Monaco in 2013 after plying his trades with French side RC Lens and La Liga side Sevilla. In the last season, Kondogbia appeared 23 times in Monaco jersey in the Ligue 1. He scored 1 goal, provided 1 assist, created 9 positive chances and won 61 tackles in the midfield. He is predominantly a defensive midfielder who is physically strong and also has a sharp eye for creating goal scoring opportunities up front.

Geoffrey Kondogbia might prove to be a very good buy in future for Roberto Mancini’s side.
