Chelsea FC midfielder Nemanja Matic has not been in the best of form of late, drawing a lot of accusations that he was one of the players rebelling against manager Jose Mourinho. However, the Serbian international quashed all these rumours by saying that he has good memories about his former manager.

In an extraordinary scene on Saturday night’s encounter, many of the Chelsea FC players were booed by the Stamford Bridge faithful after Mourinho, their favourite manager was sacked from the club. Many of the fans booed some of the players, in spite of a stellar performance by the Blues who earned a 3-1 victory over Sunderland.

However, the Serbian international denied all rumours of a rift with the Portuguese manager, and says that he rather enjoyed his time under Mourinho.

“Ia ve worked with Mourinho two beautiful years, so that means for me he is always linked the good memories,” Matic said in an interview with Serbian publication Mondo.

.

The 27-year-old holding midfielder also went on to criticise the journalists who wrote of the relation between him and Mourinho turning sour, labeling the writers as “idiots”.

“I have read several times I think that I had a bad relationship with him, but it is likely to have been written by some idiots,” said Matic. “I commented with Mourinho about these allegations, we just laughed.”

Matic hopes to save the season unfer Hiddink’s reign

Although Matic says that he has enjoyed a good relationship with the Special One, Guus Hiddink has now taken over at Chelsea FC as the interim manager till the end of the season, and the Blues would be trying to salvage their heavily damaged pride after losing nine of their 16 Premier League matches under Mourinho this season.

Matic believes that with all the experience that Hiddink brings into the table, the Dutchman can turn things around at Stamford Bridge.

“He is an experienced professional who has already worked at the club, knows the people, knows the mentality, so I expect we will be able to get good results with him,” said Matic. “There’s still a lot to play, I hope we will be able to save the season.”
