Mourinho Predicts ‘nice and quiet’ Transfer Window For Chelsea In The Summer

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has lowered the expectations of a busy transfer window in the coming summer by revealing that he is happy with the current squad.

After having made good profits in the last summer and the January window combined, there were expectations that Chelsea will make at least one big signing once again in the next summer. However, Mourinho has commented on that topic and has said that he doesn’t need high big funds next summer.

a Our transfer policy doesna t need a lot of funds because we dona t need a lot of things.

a We like our squad and we like our players. With a couple of exceptions we have a young squad. Once more our transfer policy will be nice and quiet and will be a consequence of the players we sell.

“And we are getting a lot of credibility because we sell good players. You always want to improve so there will be some players moving in and out. But Ia m not worried about funds,” the Portuguese said.

Mourinho also added that 19-year old central midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek could finally break into the first team next season after having impressed for the youth side [u21’s].

Mourinho said, “I think Ruben next season will be a player to play, a player to compete directly for a position.

a If we were fourth, fifth or sixth hea d be playing for sure now, but next season I expect him not just to play a few times, but to compete for a place in the team. His evolution is superb.”

Although Chelsea have had a brilliant season, one particular area that they could strengthen come summer is their defense. John Terry has been injury free so far and Kurt Zouma has impressed when given his chance, but one injury will mean that their defense will be stretched. With Terry’s age, Mourinho will have to look at a quality replacement and that nowadays doesn’t come cheap. Chelsea sold David Luiz for a huge sum in the last summer and could spend somewhere in that region if they want someone like Raphael Varane for instance. Chelsea are also known to spend huge sums every now and then, so you cannot really rule out anything.

The blues were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League last week and failed to win their last Premier League game against Southampton as well. The play against Hull City on Sunday and could find their lead at the top reduced to three points if Manchester City win their game on Saturday.
