Lionel Messi struck in the final minute of regulation time to salvage a 2-2 draw for Argentina in a friendly match against Mexico in Dallas.

The Albiceleste captain received Sergio Agueroa s delightful 25 yard lob on his chest before volleying it in the net beneath the legs of Mexican keeper Moises Munoz. This came four minutes after Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero had halved the deficit after superb work by Ezequiel Lavezzi on the left flank.

Earlier, Javier Hernandez had given Mexico the lead in the 19th minute from the penalty spot after fellow striker Israel Jimenez was fouled by Nicolas Otamendi in the box. Hector Herrera doubled El Tria s lead in the 70th minute after his shot deflected in off Argentina goalkeeper Nahuel Guzman.

Playing in front of an 80,000-plus largely partisan crowd, world no. 1 Argentina struggled to really get going against a determined Mexican side on the artificial surface of Dallasa AT&T Stadium. It was Aguero who inspired Argentinaa s comeback in the 2nd half after coming off the bench to score one and assist another. But as is to be expected, the Twitter-sphere went completely gaga over Messia s superb late equalizer for the Argentinians.

Here are some of the best tweets from the match.

AgA?ero’s goal of course took him past Diego Maradona. So AgA?ero is now the top scorer for Argentina among people related to his own son.
