Liverpool FC defender Martin Skrtel could become the second player to commit his future to the Reds after Club Vice-Captain Jordan Henderson agreed a new five year contract.
Jordan Henderson agreed a new five year contract this month and according to Karol Csonto, the agent of Martin Skrtel , his client is also very close to signing a new deal with the reds.
Liverpool have offered Skrtel new terms to replace his current contract, which expires next summer, and talks are due to resume at the end of the campaign.
German side Wolfsburg and Italian side Napoli are reportedly interested in the Slovakian centre back however Skrtel’s agent, Karol Csonto, says he is focused on negotiating a new deal with Liverpool.
Csonto claims Wolfsburg have not made an offer, saying: “The only offer which is lying on Martin Skrtel’s table right now is the extension of his contract from Liverpool.”
“We have been working on the details, and we will be finalising it soon.”
“It is not true that he has some offer from the German club. I don’t know anything even about their interest.”
The Defender has been omnipresent in defence for the Reds this season and the club will be hoping to secure his services for the future.
After reports emerged earlier this week that club Vice-Captain Jordan Henderson is set to extend his current deal , which will see the midfielder earn a whooping A?100,000 a week, the news coming from Skrtel’s agent will come as huge boost for the club and the fans.
