Manchester United captain, Wayne Rooney has come under severe criticism this season after a string of frustrating, below-par performances. However, the Manchester United captain made his critics eat their words with a Man of the Match performance against Chelsea FC on Monday night. Or did he?
Though Wayne Rooney was declared as the Man of the Match, his selection ahead of the likes of David de Gea or Thibaut Courtois, drew a shocked response from both sets of the fans.
Both the Manchester United and Chelsea FC goalkeeper put forth stellar performances, keeping their respective opponents at bay, and the scoreline at 0-0. Meanwhile, Rooney missed a flurry of chances and even risked getting himself sent off with a horrendous studs-up tackle on Oscar.
