Manchester United Target Edinson Cavani’s Price To Soar With Chelsea FC Also Showing Interest

Chelsea FC have had their problems in just about every area of the pitch and it wouldn’t be surprising if they tried to solve some of them by doing a little winter shopping, with Edinson Cavani seemingly one of the top players on their wish list.

French news portal Le10 Sport reports that, being overshadowed by the presence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, PSG forward Cavani might be seeking a move to greener pastures and West London might just be the perfect place.

“Edinson Cavani has scored goals, many goals but yet is he the right man for the post of Ibrahimovic,” quizzed Le10 Sport. “The Uruguayan continues to be followed by many big clubs like Chelsea, Juventus or Manchester United.”

Chelsea FC have had a poor start to the Premier League, even by the standards of some of the relegation candidates, and would need to redeem themselves as soon as possible to get out of the bottom half of the table. With striker Diego Costa misfiring from all cylinders, it seems that the Blues need new firepower up front and it is Cavani’s name that has been connected to Chelsea FC the most.

However, Chelsea FC are not the only club reported to be after Cavani’s signature. Manchester United have also had their woes up front, with striker Wayne Rooney managing just two goals from 11 Premier League appearances. Also, given the fact that the United supporters have been growing impatient with their team’s inability to create chances, manager Louis van Gaal might be looking to sign someone who would take the few chances that do come their way.

“Manchester United meanwhile have been tracking the 28-year-old with Louis van Gaal desperate to add some firepower to his attack,” says the Daily Express . .

Will PSG try to hike Cavani’s price now that his demand has increased?

While Cavani looks like he would be a good signing for either Chelsea FC or Manchester United, it would be interesting to see how the bidding war goes for the Uruguayan striker currently valued at around A?30 million (by Transfermarkt.com). His price would definitely soar if the two Premier League clubs go into a bidding war and, whatever happens, PSG will be smacking their lips at the prospect of selling to either of the two giants of English football, who have a lot of money to spend.
