Manchester City are ready to make their second, improved bid for Liverpool‘s Raheem Sterling, Sky Sports confirmed.

Manchester City have been interested in acquiring the services of young star Raheem Sterling. The player has told Liverpool that he is adamant about leaving the club. Sterling has two years left on his contract but turned down Liverpoola s offer of a new A?100,000-a-week extension and made it clear that he won’t be signing any new deal with the club. His agent went as far as saying Sterling wouldn’t sign a new deal even if Liverpool A?900, 000-a-week. While this is obviously hyperbole, the intention becomes clear. The England international is reportedly keen to join City. Liverpool were initially reluctant to let go of the 20 year-old.

a Raheem has two years left and I expect him to see that two years through and continue to behave as immaculately as he has done,a said Brendan Rodgers at the time. But it is understood that the manager has now opened up to losing the youngster as he doesn’t wish to keep an unhappy star in the dressing room.

Their initial approach of about A?30 was quickly turned down by the Reds. The club is now returning with an improved A?40m bid (A?35m with A?5m add ons), . confirmed Sky Sports. Manuel Pellegrini had one of the oldest squads in the Premier League last season and after a trophyless campaign, the Chilean wants to inject fresh and young blood to his side to ensure they are among trophies this season. Not to mention, the addition of Sterling would help City’s home-grown quota as well.

Ben Smith of BBC also confirmed that this would be City’s last bid for the player.

It has been suggested to me that A?35.5m represents City’s last bid. Would already make Sterling world’s most expensive teenager a Ben Smith (@BenSmithBBC) June 17, 2015

Needless to say, the Reds are holding out for the most money they can get for the England international. It is been said that a sum of around 50mp will get them interested. City’s second and improved bid is likely to be rejected by the Merseysiders, tweeted Ben Smith of BBC and Liverpool ECHO confirmed.

Manchester City have made an improved offer of A?35.5m for Raheem Sterling. Likely to be rejected by #LFC but no response yet.

Liverpool likely to reject improved A?40m bid from Manchester City for Raheem Sterling. #LFC Story to follow….

Liverpool are naturally holding out for more money as they will also have to pay some amount to QPR. Even though these reports claim that this will be City’s final bid for the player, it is not necessary that that will indeed, be the case. Teams don’t usually make their moves so early in the transfer window only to completely rule out bidding for a player in case their moves get rebuffed.
