Liverpool FC‘s Philippe Coutinho is the latest Reds’ star to be linked with a move away from the club in the summer.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Brazilian international will be subject to a bid from Pellegrini’s team in the summer.
The 22-year old has been Liverpool’s star of the current season and has come into sensational form in 2015, after a disappointing start to the season.
Things are not looking too great for the Merseysiders at the moment as they’re not doing well in the league and have been unsettled with reports of European Golden Boy winner Raheem Sterling seeking a move away from the club in the summer, especially after his interview with BBC where he spoke at length about his stalled contract and being flattered by interest from Arsenal.
Even though Coutinho recently extended his contract, Manchester City are reportedly not deterred by the player’s long-term commitment with the Reds. City’s offer of bigger wages could definitely tempt him to move to the Manchester side who are also struggling at the moment.
It is reported that Coutinho has a price tag of around A?35m. It makes sense for City, who have not done well in the transfer market in the last year, to target a talented, Premier League proven player (who also has a knack of scoring winners against them) who is on the younger side and is yet to hit his peak.
It is extremely unlikely that Liverpool will sell Coutinho at all next season, let alone to a direct rival. However, if they don’t end up with Champions League – something that looks almost certain at the moment – City could definitely try and tempt the player their way.
