Leicester City Put A?30m Price-Tag On Jamie Vardy’s Head To Ward-off Manchester United And Chelsea FC

Jamie Vardy has been sensational this season, and that status comes with a bag-load of interest from the top clubs. However, Leicester City are said to have stamped a A?30 million price-tag over his head to ward-off interest from the likes of Chelsea FC and Manchester United.

The 28-year-old has broken a Premier League record by scoring in 11 consecutive games in the league, and ironically, he broke the record against Manchester United, the club for whom Dutchman Ruud van Nistelrooy had held the previous record of scoring in 10 consecutive matches.

While this performance has been attracting interest from some of the biggest clubs in the land, Leicester City have said that they would not listen to any offers below A?30 million, for the recently-capped England international, according to Daily Telegraph.

Manchester United, Chelsea FC looking to Leicester City for striker solutions

.

Both Manchester United and Chelsea FC have had their problems up front, with the former being jeered by their own fans for their rather uninteresting style of football. However, both the clubs seem to be eyeing Vardy as a solution to their goalscoring problems.

Club captain Wayne Rooney has looked off-colour in front of goal this season, and it seems that the England international has finally started to age. While manager Louis van Gaal has brought in teenage sensation Anthony Martial in the summer, the Frenchman seems to have fizzed out after an early promising start. Be it due to lack of form, or the fact that van Gaal prefers to play him out wide, instead in centrally, Martial has also been a bit dry in front of goal of late.

Meanwhile, Chelsea FC have also struggled to score, with main targetman Diego Costa managing to find the back of the net just once in his last eight Premier League appearances. A small spat with manager Jose Mourinho found the Spain international of the bench against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, as the Portuguese did not even bring him on.

This prompted Costa to hurl his training bib at Mourinho, after he realised that he would be left on the bench, for the match. While Mourinho did not make much of this in front of the press, this could turn into a big issue later on, increasing Chelsea FC’s need to buy a new striker.

Vardy wages a disadvantage for Leicester?

Jamie Vardy still has two-and-a-half years left on his current contract, and this could be something that can play into Leicester City’s hands. Two-and-a-half years is a long time, and A?30 million is a huge price for a 28-yeard-old striker, who may not be the same player he now is, in a couple of years time.

But, Vardy earns A?40,000-a-week wages, which is considerably less for the top goalscorer of the league. This might entice the Englishman to take a more lucrative move to a bigger club. However, while a move to a big club will ensure more money for Vardy, it may not ensure a place in the first team.
