Reports in Italy suggest Lazio are ready to make an offer for Mario Balotelli.
Lazio are reportedly interested in bringing Liverpool forward Mario Balotelli to the Stadio Olimpico on loan. The 24-year-old has endured a frustrating debut season at the Reds and has not started a game for the club since the beginning of November. He has strongly been linked with a move away from Anfield and according to Sport Mediaset, Lazio have made an offer to take him on loan. The Italy international was not even on the bench for tonighta s 1-1 League Cup draw against Chelsea and has regularly been dropped in favour of Fabio Borini. There has already been contact between Lazioa s president Lotito and Balotellia s agent Mino Raiola. The capital side want to loan Balotelli while Liverpool cover 30% of the strikera s wages.
It is reported that Serie A strugglers Parma asked for Mario Balotelli, but were turned down by the player. The Ducali are bottom of Serie A with just nine points from their opening 19 games, and are 18 points from Chievo in 17th place. Balotelli has struggled since moving to Liverpool from Milan, failing to score a single goal in the English Premier League and has been linked with a return to Serie A. According to Sky, Parma made a sensational attempt to bring the 24-year-old on loan until June, but Balotelli rejected the proposal out of hand. Parma sit dead last in Serie A after finishing a much-loftier sixth last season, thanks to financial turmoil that led to player departures, point-docking, and finally a sale of the club. Balotelli certainly makes sense from Parma’s perspective. It remains to be seen whether Liverpool want to keep him long term, or a loan deal until the end of the season might be best for all parties.
For the second match in a row, illness prevented Mario Balotelli from taking to the pitch for Liverpool, but the Italian striker was still watching the Reds take on Chelsea from the comfort of his living room. The former AC Milan man missed Liverpool’s win at Aston Villa on Saturday, and was unavailable for a second time as Brendan Rodgers’ side drew against Chelsea at Anfield in the Capital One Cup semi-final first leg. On the pitch this season, he has made 18 appearances for the Reds – 12 of which in the Premier League.
