Manchester United playmaker Juan Mata Wants Real Madrid bound David De Gea to stay and has given his stamp of approval to former Chelsea FC and Liverpool FC boss Rafa Benitez to succeed as Real Madrid boss.
David de Gea is widely expected to swap Old Trafford for the Bernabeu this summer after the goalkeeper refused a reported A?200,000-per-week offer to stay at Manchester United.
Juan Mata has spoken of the desire to see his fellow Spaniard reject the move and stay at the English giants.
‘Lots of people ask me about De Gea. He’s a friend and I want him to be happy,’ he told Marca.
‘He’s currently one of the best goalkeepers in the world. From a selfish point of view, I would want to have him in my team.’
Should David De Gea were to move to the Spanish capital, he would play for Juan Mata’s former manager at Chelsea FC, Rafa Benitez.
Rafa Benitez won the Europa League in his solitary season in charge of Chelsea FC. The former Liverpool FC manager was the one got out the best of his talents, Mata said, giving his stamp of approval for the Spaniard to succeed at Real Madrid.
‘I had him at Chelsea FC and we won the Europa League. It was a great campaign, my best in terms of statistics,’ the Manchester United man said.
‘Benitez knows how to get the most out of every player and get them performing to their best. Benitez was key for me.’
Juan Mata fell out of favour at Chelsea FC a season following the departure of the former Liverpool FC manager Rafael Benitez.
The Manchester United man clearly has a high opinion of the Spaniard who has just taken over at Real Madrid, and for good reasons as statistic prove with the former Real Madrid youth graduate scoring an incredible 20 goals and recording 28 assists for Chelsea FC in the season.
